New Worker/Becoming Licensed

Is God calling you to full-time service? Are you interested in serving God in the Metropolitan District? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.

If you are considering serving in your church, please speak with your pastor first, he can pray with you and direct you in which direction you should take and how to begin. If you sense a call to ministry and would like to pursue an opportunity to serve with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, here are the steps to take:

Step One – Establish a MyCMA Account

The first step to becoming a licensed worker is to visit www.called2serve.org and completing the initial questionnaire.  As part of this you will need to send in a pastoral recommendation as well as your transcripts (see Printable Documents).  After these items are received, you will need to schedule a brief phone interview with our District Superintendent, Mark Searing or someone he will assign you.

After the initial interview you will need to establish a MyCMA profile so that we can get to know you.  Create a MyCMA account at www.cmalliance.org. Be sure to check the box “I’ve read and agree to the Terms of Use” and then click “Create Account.”  

Check your e-mail and click on the link provided to activate your account. You will need to enter the User ID and Validation Key provided in the email, then click “Proceed.” Sign into your new account with the same e-mail address and password you created.

Step Two – Launch Application

Go to www.cmalliance.org/serve/ and click “My Application” in the blue navigation bar. From there click the red “MyCMA Sign In” button and enter in your username and password. Click the red “Launch Application” button.

Fill out the “Release of Records and Mediation Agreement” and then continue with the rest of the application. This application includes a Doctrinal Questionnaire, Character References, Biographical Inventory, a Bible Knowledge Exam, and several other forms.  

Our district has one additional required item to the ministry application. Below under the Printable Documents section, please complete the Background Check Authorization Form.

 

Step Three – Accreditation Interview

Following completion of the Application, an accreditation interview by the district’s Licensing, Ordination and Consecration Council (LOCC) will take place.  The committee will assess your character, calling, and readiness for ministry as an Official Worker with The Alliance.  The district office will provide you with the next available date(s) to interview with the Committee upon completion of the Application.

Step Four – Licensing Process

Once you have passed the accreditation interview:

Without placement:  Accreditation provides you the opportunity to seek a pastoral ministry position with any of our churches within the United States as you interact with the appropriate district superintendent.

Ministry opportunity available: You will begin the ordination process (3-year or sustain) by registering for the Alliance Polity Course.  Contact the District Superintendent for more information.
